Fernando Magalhães has a PhD in anthropology, specializing in museology and heritage, by the ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon. He is Assistant professor and researcher at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, since 2000, teaching courses in anthropology, museology and heritage. His research focuses on nationalism and regionalism studies, in the social and cultural languages of heritage, as well as in museology questions.
In 2005 he published the book Museums, Heritage and Identity: Ritual, Education, Conservation, Research, Exhibition. In 2009 he was co-organizer of the book Heritage and Identity. Currently, the book Territories, heritage, regionalization: discourses about Leiria, is in edition.
